Dr. Yassmine Fouad, Minister of Environment has recognized Canal Sugar for taking
responsibility and showing commitment to its role in climate change. By empowering
climate entrepreneurs through sponsoring Africa Grows Green awards initiative, from
the Green Zone in COP 27.
From his side Dr. Kamel Abdallah Canal Sugar MD & CEO has thanked her Excellency for
the ministry’s continuous support to the project, he highlighted the company’s
initiatives towards achieving sustainability, while agreeing with her Excellency on the
importance of the cooperation between the public and private sector to attain the
optimum levels of competitiveness in Egypt as well as providing a supportive ecosystem for Climate Entrepreneurs. He also mentioned the company’s latest joint project
with the ministry in treating water with bacteria instead of wastewater plants that
damage the environment.
Dr. Aly Abu Senna, Head of the Environmental Affairs Authority paid tribute with special
award to Dr. Kamel Abdallah and Eng. Yasser Said, Sustainability and HSE Director, for
the company’s significant participation in encouraging environmental initiatives in
climate-smart conservation.
