Shahd began her journey at Canal Sugar in August 2023, taking on the position of Commercial Director. Prior to this, she held the role of Commercial Food Lead at Cargill, where she successfully managed the Egyptian Food Grain Program for both the public and private sectors. Her 12-year tenure at Cargill allowed her to develop a comprehensive understanding of commodity trading and merchandising across various industries. Her responsibilities included trading around food commodities, developing sales strategies and negotiating contracts with suppliers and customers. She played a vital role in ensuring the company’s profitability and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders.
An outstanding achievement in Shahd’s career was breaking the glass ceiling in the male-dominated commodity trading sector in Egypt. She was the first female in the country to venture into this field and left a profound impact, paving the way for other women to enter and thrive in the industry.
Shahd’s educational background further complements her professional accomplishments. She holds a Major in Business Administration and a Minor in Economics from the American University of Cairo
