Samy Ben Jaafar is a global leader in sustainability, treasury, and impact investing with over 25 years of experience spanning America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and East Asia. As a Board Member at Canal Sugar, he contributes his extensive expertise in sustainable finance, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and structured debt finance to support the company’s growth and sustainability agenda.
Currently, Mr. Ben Jaafar serves as Head of Sustainability and Treasury at Alpha Dhabi Holding (ADH) Group, where he leads sustainability initiatives and supports portfolio companies in CSR, structured debt finance, and responsible investing.
Previously, he was the inaugural CEO of the Dubai Green Fund (DGF) and played a key role at the United Nations’ Green Climate Fund (GCF) as Senior Director for green debt, capital markets, and equity investments. His early career includes leadership roles at Citibank, where he served as Maghreb Corporate & Investment Bank Head and Asia Pacific & Middle East Region Director for Investment Finance and CSR Officer.
A passionate advocate for financial inclusion and education, Mr. Ben Jaafar actively supports initiatives that empower smallholder farmers through access to risk participation financing. He also champions programs that promote access to STEM education and financial literacy, having served on George Mason University (South Korea) President’s Advisory Board.
With his profound experience in sustainable development and strategic finance, Mr. Ben Jaafar strengthens Canal Sugar’s commitment to being a leader in sustainable agri-industrial development in Egypt.
