Commercial Director

Sherif Medhat has been Commercial Director since 2019. In this role, Sherif builds and accelerates Canal Sugar’s growth through developing and delivering the company’s commercial strategy by focusing on the agribusiness economic development, global trading, risk management, strategic partnership, and market analysis.

In this position, Sherif and his team are pioneering new trading capabilities and strategies while focusing on providing market analytical views and well hedged structured pricing for Canal Sugar’s commodity businesses, which reflects on the trade flows and proper’s finance, freight, agricultural commodities, and risk management sectors.

Sherif joined Canal Sugar in 2019. As a Trading Manager with the responsibility of building and leading the out-growers program that transformed our relationship with the farmers towards sustainability and continuity.

Before joining Canal sugar, Sherif had a vast experience in managing medium and long-term outlooks across different countries and markets. As he worked for the continental commodities companies in Egypt and London in roles including Management, Trading, Logistics and Merchandising.

Born in 1985. Sherif holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Cairo University. He continued his post graduate studies in sales and marketing in AUC. He truly believes that sustainability, dependability, and creativity are the key success factors in his career, as he aspires to explore new markets and products as well as developing strong teams.
