As the Shareholder and Managing Director of Al Khaleej Sugar Co. LLC (AKS), Mr. Jamal Majed Ahmad Al Ghurair leads world’s largest and most energy efficient standalone sugar refinery in the world.
Al Khaleej’s prosperity in the sugar industry surpasses all expectations due to Mr. Jamal’s deep knowledge, clear-sight and close business relationships with tier one Brazilian suppliers who have been providing AKS with finest raw sugar for more than 15 years. With his dedication and vision, he has succeeded to turn the business to a victorious story by expanding its production capacity from 2400 metric tons per day to more than 7000 metric tons per day since 2012. Today, Al Khaleej Sugar contributes 3% of the world refined Sugar production.
Being an active member of the UAE business society, Mr. Jamal Al Ghurair served on a number of advisory boards for both government and public sector organizations, to name a few, Executive Member of the Federal National Council of the UAE between 2000-2002, Director of Mashreq Bank and acting as Vice-Chairman of Emirates Investment & Development PSC.
Concurrently, he is managing his own group of companies which include:
